Newly purchased systems should be configured to maximize their
life expectancy. A system that meets or exceeds the
recommended minimum specifications should serve general needs
for about three years. Higher end systems, while more costly,
may be a good investment since systems at the bottom of a
product line will generally have a shorter life span. A three year warranty is required for all university owned computers.
The desktop specifications below are split between Apple and PC Desktops. Then, the desktop specifications are seperated into minimum recommendation for a new system and acceptable minimum existing systems.

The computer must meet the following rules:
- A three year warranty for the computer is required.
- An operating system must be included with the computer purchase.
- Meet the minimum requirements under the University Computer Guidelines and Specifications.
Dell Purchase Instructions
- Login to the Premier site http://premier.dell.com.
- If you already have a premier login enter
it and skip to step 8.
- If the page is titled Welcome {Somebody
else's name), click the menu item on the right titled "Retrieve
a different profile" and go to step 1.
- Click the "create one now" link below the
login fields.
- Enter the information requested on the
new account page. Press submit.
- Enter US75Y8R for the
Access Code and JV2L6 for the Access Key.
Press Submit.
- Enter the password you entered in step
5 and press submit.
- From the Puchasing Tools menu on the left,
click the menu to get a drop down list.
- Select the Your Dell Store menu item.
- Select and configure the system you want.
- When you have selected the system you
want, scroll to the bottom of the configuration page and
press the Save E-quote option.
- Enter Your Information in the top portion
and enter Jackie Moses with the email address of jmoses@fit.edu
for the buyer information.
- Enter a requistion into Banner following
the standard Florida Tech Requistions Process. Please refer
to the E-Quote number on the requistion.
