Accessing your Udrive (On and Off-Campus)
This document outlines the methods available to access your Udrive both on and off-campus. Four methods to access your home directory are listed below.
- Mapping a Network Drive on your Mac or PC
- Using Secure Shell for a Telnet (text) like interface
- Using Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)
- Using the TRACKS portal
Mapping a Network Drive on your Mac or PC
Windows PC
If connecting with a PC that is a member of the TRACKS Account Domain (FLTECH), the drive will already be mapped as drive U. Otherwise follow the instructions below:
- Windows 2000 / XP:
- From the Windows Explorer, select the Tools menu and then the Map Network Drive Menu Item.
- Pick the desired letter for the remote drive and type . udrive.fit.edu[Your TRACKS USERNAME].
- click ok and when a dialog box appears prompting for a username and password, type your username as FLTECH[Your TRACKS USERNAME] and then your TRACKS account password.
Mac OS X
If connecting with a Mac that is a member of the TRACKS system, the drive will already be mapped. Otherwise follow the instructions below:
- From the finder, select the go menu.
- Select "Connect to Server."
- Type smb://udrive.fit.edu/[Your TRACKS username].
- Enter FLTECH for the domain name, your TRACKS username as the user, and your password when prompted.
- The home directory will now be available on your desktop and the finder.
Using Secure Shell for a Telnet (text) like interface
- Obtain the freely available SSH Client for PC, or MAC OS. For Detailed SSH Instructions click here.
- Use SSH to connect to my.fit.edu using your TRACKS username and password.
Using Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)
- Obtain the freely available SFTP Client PC or MAC. For Detailed SSH Instructions click here. A Secure FTP (SFTP) Utility is included with the SSH Client.
- Use SSH to connect to my.fit.edu using your TRACKS username and password.
Currently, the TRACKS portal provides web-based email for your TRACKS (@fit.edu) account, a personal calendar, web-based file management, vacation message management, and email address forwarding.
- Get Web Access to your TRACKS email account (@fit.edu) https://webaccess.fit.edu
- To access your Udrive from a web-based client: https://webaccess.fit.edu/filemanager
